Kick & Push Century Ride 2025 Recap

The day started with a little drama for us….we arrived at the Railway Heritage Park to dsicover our finish line tent and flags MISSING!! After some choice words and coming up with a plan (it was also raining, and we NEEDED the tent!), the calmer, 19 year old brain we brought with us, located our tent safely tucked away in a LOCKED shed at the park. After a quick look at the parks website we found a phone number…that was the landline of a board member of the park who ANSWERED their phone at 7:10am on a Sunday morning, and gave us the combo to the lock. Phew.

After a couple of short deluges of rain, the skies cleared and gave us a beautiful morning to check in, brief and send off our racers!!

We saw 31 riders head out at 9am for the 100km route. Sadly a few DNF’d after the first 50km due to a varirty of reasons (old injuries, bike failures and parental duties) The lead pack of six mud splattered riders blasted through 1 hour and 46 minutes into the race, followed 7 minutes later by another group of six riders.

At 10am, we sent out 17 riders on the 50km course, and all completed with smiles, and no issues!

Our top finisher on the 100 km was Andre Goulet in 3:27:43
Top female: Heidi Miller in 3:38:57
Top male Masters: Jim Laird 3:53:00
Top female Masters: Chantal Dixon 5:06:54

Our top finisher on the 50km was Andrew Hamilton in 2:11:16
Top female: Jenny Alexander in 2:38:03
Top male Masters: Andrew Hamilton in 2:11:16
Top female Masters: Gloria Opzoomer in 3:10:35

Honourable Mentions!

We like to acknowledge our riders who spend the most time out on our routes with the Caboose Award!
100km Caboose: Morgan Dixon 5:06:54
50km Caboose: Todd Pearson 3:35:22

We also like to acknowledge our oldest and youngest riders with the newly named Thomas & Percy Award (If you know, you know)

Our youngest, Penelope was just a few days shy of her 14th birthday and our oldest, Gloria is 77 years young!

And finally….the Deer Fly Award! We gave each rider a deer fly strip to attach to their helmet (or butts) and whoever caught the most won a six pack of K&P Brewery beer….this years winner, Rachel, caught a record breaking 26 (and a half) deerflies!

We send out a HUGE thank you to all of our riders, the caretakers of the Rideau Heritage Park, the town of Sharbot Lake, the fine short order cooks who flipped burgers and tossed fries, and the folks at the Kick & Push Brewery for post ride and brews, and to Frontenac Cycle for their continued support and sending nine riders to race!

Until next year!
