MT Adventures
Hello!! We are Michelle McShane & Tammie Stanton, two moms who have been racing over the last 15 years. Between us, we have raced over 100 races (ranging from running races, triathlons, MTB races and adventure racing) and have raced over 3000km combined.
Tammie has been a certified Personal Trainer since 2007 and has owned her own studio north of Kingston since 2008. As an athletic minded person from childhood, it was a natural progression for her to get into racing in her adult years to keep fit, motivated and release those competitive juices. Competing in everything from 5k’s to triathlons, adventure races and Ontario Cup Mountain Biking, with mountain biking becoming a strong passion she received her Level 1 PMBI instructor certification in 2018 and has been teaching every year since. With their 4 children and running a studio, life is busy, but there is always time to train and race.
Michelle McShane, Executive Director of Paddle Canada, competed in her first race, the Kingston Triathlon in 2008, and was hooked the moment she crossed the finish line (coincidentally, Tammie was the one who encouraged her to race-even provided a training program and the registration link!). She discovered adventure racing the following year, and has competed in multiple races every year since, including Wilderness Traverse (a 24-30 hour race) numerous times. An avid backcountry paddler, and hiker, (and “retired” wilderness guide and paddling instructor) who loves planning events, her love of racing, and getting people outside, directing an adventure race seemed like a natural progression. Raising her two boys with her husband in the country north of Kingston, she is passing on her spirit of adventure and respect of the environment.
