Rock the Lock FAQ’s

What is the race course like?

Unlike other running races, this one is a point to point leaving from Chaffeys Locks along Opinicon Rd to the Cataraqui Trail access, from there it’s a flat beautiful run to Perth Rd, turn left to head into the village, and complete your run in Harris Park.

If it’s a point to point run do I need to shuttle my car?

No! Transportation will be provided by bus dropping you off at the start line and running to the finish. Departure will leave from Harris Park, 5612 Perth Road Cres. at 9:15am

Where do I park?

Street parking is available on Perth Road Crescent as well as limited parking in Harris Park. There are also some spots available at the Cataraqui Trail Head on Perth Rd/Hwy 10.

Do I have to take the bus?

The bus is a service we are providing so you can park your car at the finish site, and leave when you want, however it is not mandatory, if you wanted to shuttle a car, ride a bike, have a friend drop you off, you are more than welcome, you must still register and pick up your race kit and meet at the race start at 9:45am.

Is there an aid station on course?

Sorry nope! Due to the limited access and the remote nature of sections of the trail you must take all the water and fuel you will need for the duration of the run.  And remeber LEAVE NO TRACE, what you pack in, you pack out. Nothing is worse than seeing a gel packed littered on the trail!

Is there food provided at the end?

Yes! A light lunch will be provided in the Harris Park Hall immediately available when you finish.

Is there an awards ceremony?

Yes! Awards will be held outside in Harris Park at 1:30pm.

Where do I pick up my race kit?

Race kits will be available in Harris Park Hall. Sensory Friendly pick up from 8:00am – 8:15am, regular pick up from 8:15am – 9:10am. (bus departs from Harris Park at 9:15am SHARP!) Pre-race briefing will be done at the start line at Chaffeys Lock to accommodate all racers, in case some drive out and do not take the bus.

What about Inclement weather?

While June is typically a beautiful time of year to run. A few things to consider, temps that time of year can range anywhere from single digits to hot!  BUGS…while early June black fly season is typically completed and deer fly season has yet to begin, you may want to consider how to deal with pesky insects if the season dictates!

We will monitor the weather closely for thunderstorms the day of and reserve the right to postpone or cancel the race if the weather poses a threat to life.
