Do I have to Run?
While run might be in the name, we highly encourage everyone to come and enjoy the outdoors and the beautiful fall colours! Walkers, striders, skippers…everyone welcome!
What time does the Run start?
10:00am on Wheatley street in Sydenham ON, directly west of the football field at the Sydenham Point Beach. NOTE a pre-race briefing will be held at the start line at 9:50am ALL participants must be present.
What is the racecourse?
The Sydenham Fall Trail Run has been a staple in the community for over 15 years, the route is the same! Follow Wheatley through the village of Sydenham to George St, turn right, then travel towards the Cataraqui Trail at the Foodland. Running north on the Cataraqui trail along beautiful Sydenham lake turning onto Clearwater Cres, up a hill to the Cataraqui trail again to the 4km turn around, follow your tracks back to the track where the finish will be waiting!
Are there aid stations on course?
NO! Self -sufficiency is the name of the game with off-road events. Hydration packs, or vest, or hand held water and pocket snacks are your responsibility. And remember, LEAVE NO TRACE. If you pack it in, pack it out. Nothing is worse than seeing a gel pack littered on the trail!
Where do I pick up my race kit? And what time?
New in 2022 and again for 2023, Race headquarters will be at the Sydenham Legion, Branch 496, at 4376 William St. Sensory Friendly pick up from 8:00am -8:15am, regular pick up from 8:15am – 9:30am.
Where do I PARK?
The village of Sydenham is very walkable, with parking spread throughout. There is some street parking by the Legion, and on other side streets, as well as parking at Sydenham Point Beach and the municipal offices and library. The walk between the start line and the Legion is only 450m. PLEASE DO NOT park in the apartment parking spaces across the street, or the accessible parking at the Legion.
Is there food after?
A light lunch will be available at 11:00am, at Race Headquarters, aka the Legion where you picked up your racekits.
Is there an awards ceremony?
Yes! We have prizing for our top finishers, as well as bib draws for all participants. We would love to thank all of our sponsors for donating such great prizing!
What about inclement weather?
The fall can bring all kinds of weather! The SFTR has been held in rain, hot sun and even a bit of snow! So watch for the forecast and plan your clothing accordingly. MT Adventures reserves the right to alter, postpone or cancel the race if the weather poses a threat to life.
